Description
Huawei P40 Pro Price in Kenya
The Huawei P40 Pro 5G (8GB RAM / 256GB) costs KSh 98,499 at Avechi. It is in stock with a 1-year warranty, and you can have it delivered or pick it up from our Nairobi shop.
The P40 Pro was Huawei’s spring flagship for 2020, announced in March that year. It paired the Kirin 990 5G chip with a 50MP Leica main camera and a 5x periscope lens, and it was one of the first Huawei P-series phones sold without Google apps. It still takes good photos, but it is now more than six years old. At this price, the newer Huawei phones we stock are better value, so this model mainly suits buyers who want this exact design or are replacing an identical unit.
No Google Mobile Services
Be clear on this before buying. The P40 Pro has no Google Mobile Services, so there is no Google Play Store, and apps such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Maps and Google Drive do not come installed and may not run properly if added later. Apps are installed from Huawei AppGallery. Many everyday apps are available there, and some services work through the browser, but any app that relies on Google services can fail to install, crash or stop sending notifications. That includes some banking, payment and ride-hailing apps. Make a list of the apps you need and confirm each one works on Huawei first.

Why consider the P40 Pro
- A strong camera kit for its age. The large 1/1.28-inch main sensor, a 40MP ultra-wide and a 5x periscope still cover wide scenes, portraits and distant subjects well.
- Real optical zoom. The 5x periscope lets you frame a speaker on stage or a bird across a field without cropping into a blurry image.
- Wireless charging both ways. 27W wireless charging, and you can top up earbuds or a friend’s phone from the back.
- Compact for a flagship. At 209g and 72.6mm wide, it sits more easily in one hand than most large phones today.
- 5G and IP68. It works on 5G networks and is rated for dust and fresh-water immersion.

| IP68 and 5G | Uses Huawei NM cards, not microSD |
| Compact, premium glass and metal build | Costs more than the newer Pura 90s Pro we stock |

| Avechi price | KSh 98,499 (8GB/256GB) | KSh 102,999 (8GB/256GB) |
Verdict: The Mate 40 Pro has the faster chip, a slightly bigger battery and much quicker charging, while the P40 Pro is smaller and has the higher-resolution ultra-wide. The two are close in price and both are from 2020. Our advice is to look past both: the Pura 90s Pro and Pura 80 Pro are years newer and cost less than either.
Other phones to consider

- Huawei Pura 80 Pro (KSh 89,999): a 1-inch main sensor, 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. No Google services.
- Xiaomi 15 5G (KSh 91,499): a compact flagship with Leica cameras and full Google Play support.
- Nothing Phone (3) (from KSh 70,999): a current flagship with Google apps for much less money.
Huawei P40 Pro FAQs
How much is the Huawei P40 Pro in Kenya?
As of October 2026, Avechi sells the P40 Pro 5G 8GB/256GB for KSh 98,499.
Can I install the Google Play Store?
No. The P40 Pro ships without Google Mobile Services. You get apps from Huawei AppGallery, and Google apps may not work even if you find a way to install them.
Will M-Pesa and my banking apps work?
It depends on the app. Some are on AppGallery and work normally; others need Google services and may not install or may miss notifications. Check each app you rely on before you buy.
Is the P40 Pro waterproof?
It carries an IP68 rating for dust and fresh-water immersion up to 1.5m for 30 minutes. Seals can weaken over the years, so keep it away from water where you can.
Does it have a memory card slot?
Yes, but it takes Huawei NM (Nano Memory) cards only, not microSD, and the card uses the second SIM slot.
Is it better than the Mate 40 Pro?
It is smaller and a little cheaper, but the Mate 40 Pro has a faster chip and faster charging. Both are 2020 phones, and the newer Pura models we stock are better value.
