Which Huawei phone should you buy?
- Biggest battery on a budget: nova Y91 (from KSh 47,199). A large 6.95" 90Hz screen and a 7,000mAh battery that can last up to two days with light use.
- Best camera: Pura 80 Pro (from KSh 89,999). A 50MP main camera with a large 1-inch sensor, a 48MP 4x telephoto that also shoots close-up macros, a 40MP ultra-wide, 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, and IP68/IP69 protection.
- Best foldable: Mate X7 (from KSh 144,999). Kirin 9030 Pro, an 8-inch inner screen, a 3.5x telephoto camera, 66W charging and IP58/IP59 water resistance, rare on a foldable. The earlier Mate X6 (from KSh 139,999) costs less.
- Tri-fold: Mate XT Ultimate (from KSh 284,999). Folds twice and opens into a tablet-size screen, for buyers who want the most screen in their pocket.
Older models: we also stock earlier Huawei phones such as the P40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro and nova 5Z at lower prices. They are older designs, so check that the features you need are supported.
What Huawei does well
- Some of the best camera hardware on any phone, especially in the Pura and Mate flagships.
- Very fast wired and wireless charging on flagship models.
- Premium design and build quality, including advanced foldables.
Things to know before buying
- No Google Play Store or Google apps. Huawei phones use Huawei AppGallery. Many popular apps are available there, but apps that depend on Google services may not work or may need workarounds. Check the apps you rely on before buying.
- Recent flagships run Huawei's own software rather than standard Android, so the experience differs from Samsung or Pixel.
- Water resistance and charging speeds vary a lot between budget and flagship models.
