Why buy the Tecno Spark 50
- Battery that outlasts the day. At 7,000mAh, this is one of the largest batteries you can get under KSh 20,000. A full charge can carry most people through a long day of calls, M-Pesa and YouTube with plenty left over.
- Storage you can grow. The microSD slot has its own space, so you keep both SIM cards and still add a memory card for music, sermons or school notes.
- Good sound for the price. Stereo speakers and a headphone jack make it easy to watch videos out loud or plug in cheap wired earphones for FM radio on the matatu.
- Built to take knocks. IP64 handles dust and light rain, and the body is rated to survive drops of up to 1.5m.
- NFC included. Not common at this price, and useful for tap-to-pair accessories and contactless features where supported.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Huge 7,000mAh battery | 18W charging is slow to fill such a big battery |
| 120Hz screen and stereo speakers | HD+ resolution is not very sharp on a 6.78″ panel |
| Dedicated microSD slot and headphone jack | Helio G81 is fine for daily apps but weak for heavy games |
| NFC and IP64 rating | Only 4GB RAM on the variants we stock |
| Low starting price | 4G only, no 5G |

| Battery / charging | 7,000mAh / 18W | 6,000mAh or 5,600mAh (by market) / 60W |

| Headphone jack | Yes | No |
| Avechi price (4GB/128GB) | KSh 19,499 | KSh 21,399 |
Verdict: The Spark 50 wins on battery size and keeps the headphone jack. The Spark 50 Pro costs about KSh 3,000 more but charges far faster, runs a quicker chip and is properly waterproof. If you charge overnight and mainly chat and browse, the Spark 50 is enough. If you want quick top-ups and better water protection, step up to the Pro.
