Why buy the Galaxy A17 4G
- An AMOLED panel at a budget price. Blacks look deep and colours pop, and Full HD+ makes text sharper than the HD+ LCD screens common below KSh 25,000.
- Steadier photos. The 50MP main camera has optical stabilisation, which helps in dim rooms and when you shoot with one hand on a moving matatu.
- Six Android upgrades. Starting from Android 15, it is set to stay current well into the 2030s, so it makes sense as a phone you keep for years.
- Slim and light enough to forget. At 7.5mm thick it slides easily into a shirt pocket.
- Proven chip. The Helio G99 handles WhatsApp, banking apps and casual games without fuss.

Galaxy A17 4G vs Galaxy A07
| Galaxy A07 | Galaxy A17 4G | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | 6.7″ LCD, HD+, 90Hz | 6.7″ Super AMOLED, Full HD+, 90Hz |
| Processor | Same: Helio G99 | |
| Main camera | 50MP with autofocus | 50MP with OIS |
| Extra cameras | Secondary helper lens only | 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro |
| Selfie | 8MP | 13MP |
| Headphone jack | Yes | No |
| Avechi price (4GB/128GB) | KSh 17,999 | KSh 22,299 |
Verdict: Both share the same chip, battery and long update promise. The extra KSh 3,800 for the A17 4G buys a much better screen, a stabilised camera, an ultra-wide lens and a sharper selfie camera. If you watch a lot of video or care about photos, the A17 4G is worth it. If you need a wired headphone jack or the lowest price, take the Galaxy A07.
