Keep in mind it is a 4G phone with a modest processor and an HD+ screen, so it is not meant for heavy gaming.

Why buy the A5 Pro 4G
- Water and dust protection rare at this price. IP68 and IP69 mean it can handle a downpour, a dusty site or a quick rinse under the tap.
- Built for knocks. It passed MIL-STD-810H drop and stress tests. That is not a promise it will never break, but it is tougher than a typical budget phone.
- Big battery. 5,800mAh lasts well into a second day for most users, which helps if you are often away from a socket.
- Charges fast. 45W wired charging is quicker than most phones under KSh 35,000.
- Space to spare. 256GB built in, plus a microSD slot for extra photos and music.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| IP68/IP69 and military-standard testing | No 5G |
| Large 5,800mAh battery | HD+ (720p) screen looks soft next to AMOLED rivals |
| 45W charging | Older 11nm chip is fine for daily apps but weak for games |
| Stereo speakers | No ultra-wide camera, 1080p video only |
| 256GB plus microSD | No headphone jack |
Oppo A5 Pro 4G vs Oppo A3 4G
| Oppo A3 4G (2024) | Oppo A5 Pro 4G (2025) | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Same: Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 1 | |
| Water resistance | IP54 (splashes) | IP68 / IP69 |
| Battery / charging | 5,100mAh, 45W | 5,800mAh, 45W |
| Storage type | eMMC 5.1 | UFS 2.1 (faster) |
| Selfie camera | 5MP | 8MP |
| Headphone jack | Yes | No |
| Android at launch | Android 14 | Android 15 |
| Avechi price (8GB/256GB) | KSh 28,399 | KSh 31,299 |
Verdict: Both phones share the same chip and screen size, so daily speed feels similar. The extra KSh 2,900 for the A5 Pro buys full water protection, a bigger battery, faster storage and a newer Android version. That is worth paying unless you rely on wired earphones, which only the A3 supports.
Other phones to consider
- Oppo A3 4G (from KSh 22,799): a cheaper Oppo with the same chip and a headphone jack, but only splash resistance.
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 15 5G (KSh 34,999): a little more money for 5G and a sharper screen.
- Oppo Reno 13 F 5G (from KSh 45,499): if you want the same IP69 toughness with 5G, an AMOLED screen and a much faster chip.
