Why buy the OnePlus 15
- A battery that goes the distance. 7,300mAh is far more than most flagships carry, so a long day of hotspotting, navigation and video calls rarely empties it.
- Charging measured in minutes. With a compatible OnePlus 120W charger it gets to about half in 15 minutes, which helps if you lose power during the day.
- Tough against water and dust. IP68 plus IP69K means it is rated for immersion and for high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, useful on dusty roads or in heavy rain.
- Three 50MP cameras. The 3.5x periscope lens with OIS gives clean portraits and steady zoom shots, and the main camera records up to 8K.
- Smooth for gaming. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and a 165Hz display make fast games and scrolling feel very fluid.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Huge 7,300mAh battery with 120W wired and 50W wireless charging | Heavier than compact flagships at 211g to 215g |
| IP68 and IP69K protection | No memory card slot |
| Top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 | Full 120W speed needs a OnePlus charger |
| 165Hz LTPO display | Only one configuration currently in stock at Avechi |
OnePlus 15 vs OnePlus Nord 5
| OnePlus Nord 5 | OnePlus 15 | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 |
| Display | 6.83″ AMOLED, 144Hz | 6.78″ LTPO AMOLED, 165Hz |
| Rear cameras | 50MP OIS + 8MP ultra-wide | 50MP OIS + 50MP 3.5x periscope + 50MP ultra-wide |
| Battery | 6,800mAh (global version) | 7,300mAh |
| Charging | 80W wired, no wireless | 120W wired, 50W wireless |
| Water resistance | IP65 | IP68 / IP69K |
| Avechi price | KSh 50,199 (8GB/256GB) | From KSh 99,999 |
Verdict: The Nord 5 costs about half as much and already offers a big battery and a fast chip. The OnePlus 15 justifies the extra spend with a telephoto camera, wireless charging, full water immersion protection and a much quicker processor. If you mostly chat, browse and stream, the Nord 5 is enough. If camera zoom and durability matter, buy the 15.
