Why buy the Redmi Note 17 4G
- The battery is the headline. At 7,700mAh it holds about 28% more charge than the Redmi Note 15 4G. Heavy users get a full day with room to spare, and lighter users can often reach a second day.
- Quicker charging than its predecessor. 45W replaces the 33W of the Note 15 4G, which matters when the tank is this big.
- A near 7-inch AMOLED screen. Long YouTube sessions, football highlights and e-books all benefit from the extra space, and AMOLED gives deep blacks.
- Better weather protection. IP65 means it can handle rain and water jets as well as dust, a step up from the IP64 on the Note 15 4G.
- Useful everyday extras. NFC (where supported), an IR blaster for TVs and air conditioners, and a memory card option are all included.

Verdict: This is not a straight upgrade. The Note 17 wins on battery, charging, screen size and water resistance. Redmi Note 17 FAQs
How much is the Redmi Note 17 in Kenya?
As of October 2026, the Redmi Note 17 4G costs KSh 29,099 (6GB/128GB), KSh 32,299 (6GB/256GB) and KSh 32,499 (8GB/256GB) at Avechi.
Is the Redmi Note 17 a 5G phone?
The version we sell is 4G. Xiaomi also makes a Redmi Note 17 5G with a different processor (Snapdragon 4 Gen 4).
How long does the battery last?
Real-world life depends on use, but 7,700mAh is unusually large. Most users will end a busy day with charge left, and 45W charging refills it faster than the previous model.
Is it waterproof?
It is IP65 rated. That covers dust, rain and water jets, but not swimming or full submersion.
Can I use a memory card?
Yes, up to 2TB, but the card goes in the hybrid slot, so you give up the second SIM.
Is there a charger in the box?
Xiaomi lists a 45W charger in the global box, though contents can vary by region. Ask us when you order and we will confirm.
