Why buy the Xiaomi 15
- Small but not compromised. At 152mm tall and about 190g, it is easy to use with one hand, yet it keeps flagship parts: Snapdragon 8 Elite, LTPO screen and IP68.
- Three useful 50MP cameras. The main, 2.6x telephoto and ultra-wide all use 50MP sensors, so image quality stays consistent when you switch lenses.
- Good portraits. The 60mm telephoto with OIS is a natural focal length for headshots and family photos.
- Wireless charging included. 50W wireless and 90W wired, which many compact phones lack.
- Plenty of storage. The Avechi unit comes with 512GB, enough for years of photos and 8K clips.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Compact, light flagship body | Global battery is 5,240mAh, less than the Xiaomi 17 |
| Snapdragon 8 Elite performance | Telephoto is 2.6x, not a long periscope |
| Three 50MP Leica cameras | Newer Xiaomi 17 costs about KSh 16,000 more and is better in most ways |
| 90W wired and 50W wireless charging | No memory card slot |
| IP68 and four Android upgrades | Small screen is less suited to long video sessions |

Verdict: The two phones are almost the same size and share a similar camera layout. The Xiaomi 17 adds about 1,100mAh of battery, a faster chip, a better selfie camera and a year more of software life. If battery life is your main complaint with small phones, pay the extra KSh 16,200 for the 17. If you want a compact flagship at a lower price, the Xiaomi 15 is still very capable.
