The OpenFit Air is a pair of true wireless earbuds with an open-ear design. Each bud sits on a flexible hook above the ear rather than inside the ear canal, so outside sound still reaches you. It arrived in June 2024 with a launch price of US$119, which placed it well below Shokz’s earlier OpenFit model. It suits runners, gym users and anyone who wants to hear traffic or people nearby while listening to music or taking calls. Reviewers often recommend it to runners, mountain bikers and hikers who want audio without losing awareness of their surroundings.

Key specifications

Why buy the Shokz OpenFit Air

• Light enough to forget. The hook design keeps each bud near 8.7 g, which keeps the weight off your ear during long sessions.
• Stay aware of your surroundings. The open ear design lets you hear traffic and voices, which matters on roads and in busy Nairobi streets. The earbuds do not block outside sound the way in-ear models do.
• Long total battery. Up to 6 hours of music time with a single charge, up to 28 hours with the charging case. A short top-up gives you roughly two more hours.
• Two devices at once. They offer multipoint pairing for two devices. You can keep a phone and a laptop connected together.
• Sweat and splash protection. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating. The case does not, so keep it dry.
• Calls with four microphones. The earbuds use four microphones with beamforming. In Shokz’s own lab test, background noise dropped by 96.5%. Treat that figure as the maker’s result, not a guarantee for every street.
