Why buy the Vivo Y04
- Low price, real smartphone. At KSh 14,199 it runs WhatsApp, M-Pesa, YouTube and Facebook without fuss.
- Battery for two days of light use. 5,500mAh is generous for a phone that mostly handles calls, chats and some video.
- Tougher than most cheap phones. IP64 keeps out dust and splashes, and Vivo put it through MIL-STD-810H drop and stress tests.
- Expandable storage. The dedicated microSD slot means you can add a card without giving up a SIM slot.
- Headphone jack kept. Wired earphones and FM-style listening setups plug straight in.

Vivo Y04 vs Vivo Y31d
| Vivo Y04 | Vivo Y31d | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Unisoc T7225 | Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 |
| Display | 6.74″ LCD, 90Hz | 6.75″ LCD, 120Hz |
| Main camera | 13MP | 50MP |
| Battery / charging | 5,500mAh / 15W | 7,200mAh / 44W |
| Water resistance | IP64 (splashes) | IP68 and IP69 |
| Memory card / headphone jack | Yes / Yes | No / No |
| Avechi price | From KSh 14,199 | From KSh 28,599 (6GB/128GB) |
Verdict: The Y31d is the far stronger phone, with a faster chip, a much bigger battery, faster charging and full water resistance. It also costs about twice as much. If you only need calls, chats and mobile money, the Y04 does the job and keeps the microSD slot and headphone jack that the Y31d drops.

- Samsung Galaxy A16 (KSh 19,999): steps up to an AMOLED screen and a Helio G99.
Vivo Y04 FAQs
How much is the Vivo Y04 in Kenya?
At Avechi the Vivo Y04 costs KSh 14,199 to KSh 16,299, depending on the version. The table above shows the current price of each RAM and storage option.
Is the Vivo Y04 waterproof?
No. It is IP64 rated, which covers dust and water splashes, not immersion. Rain on the screen is fine, a drop in a bucket is not.
Does the Vivo Y04 support 5G?
No, it is a 4G phone. That is enough for calls, WhatsApp, M-Pesa and video streaming.
Can I use a memory card?
Yes. It has a dedicated microSD slot, so you can use two SIM cards and a memory card at the same time.
Which is better, 64GB or 128GB?
The 128GB version is worth the extra KSh 2,800 if you save a lot of WhatsApp photos and videos. With a memory card, the 64GB model is fine for light users.
