Why buy the Tecno Pop 20
- Low cost of entry. At under KSh 15,000 for the base model, it gives a full Android phone with 4G and a fingerprint reader to someone moving up from a feature phone.
- Smooth screen for the money. Most phones at this price run at 60Hz. The 120Hz panel makes menus and social feeds scroll more smoothly.
- Doubles as a TV remote. The infrared blaster can control many TVs, decoders and air conditioners through an app, which helps when the original remote goes missing.
- A full day of light use. The 5,000mAh battery paired with an efficient Unisoc chip should last a day of calls, chats and some video.
- FM radio built in. Handy for news and football commentary without using data.

Verdict: For KSh 2,200 more, the Spark 50 brings a much better 50MP camera, a 7,000mAh battery, splash protection and a newer Android version. If you can stretch the budget, the Spark 50 is the better buy. The Pop 20 makes sense when every shilling counts or the phone is for calls and WhatsApp only.
