Motorola released the Moto G06 in September 2025. It is a low-cost 4G phone with a very large 6.88-inch screen, a 50MP camera and a 5,200mAh battery. It sits just below the Moto G06 Power, which shares most of its parts but carries a bigger battery. The G06 suits a first smartphone, a phone for an older relative, a spare handset for a second line, or anyone who mainly watches video, chats and pays with M-Pesa.

What the Moto G06 does well
- A screen bigger than most at this price. At 6.88 inches it is larger than many phones costing twice as much. The 120Hz refresh rate makes menus and feeds move smoothly, and Gorilla Glass 3 gives some defence against scratches.
- Two SIMs and a memory card at once. The card slot is separate from the SIM trays. You can run Safaricom and Airtel lines together and still add a microSD card when 64GB fills up.
- Sound for a small room. Stereo speakers help with sermons on YouTube, radio streams or a match commentary, and the 3.5mm jack is there for wired earphones.
- Tougher than it looks. IP64 means dust cannot get inside and splashes or rain will not harm it. That helps if the phone lives in a bag on a boda ride or at a market stall.
- More useful memory than the cheapest rivals. 4GB of RAM keeps WhatsApp, a browser and M-Pesa open without constant reloading, which 2GB and 3GB phones struggle with.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| Huge 6.88″ 120Hz display | HD+ resolution looks soft up close |
| Dedicated microSD slot plus dual SIM | Only 64GB built in |
| Stereo speakers and headphone jack | Slow 10W charging |
| IP64 rating and Gorilla Glass 3 | Helio G81 Ultra is not for demanding games |
| 4GB RAM at an entry price | 4G only, no 5G |

|---|---|---|
| Battery | 5,200mAh | 7,000mAh |
| Charging | 10W | 18W |
| Thickness / weight | 8.3mm / 194g | 8.8mm / 220g |
| Storage at Avechi | 64GB | 128GB or 256GB |
| Screen, chip, camera | Same: 6.88″ 120Hz LCD, Helio G81 Ultra, 50MP main, 8MP selfie | |
| Water and dust | Same: IP64 | |
| Avechi price | KSh 14,499 (4GB/64GB) | KSh 16,999 (4GB/128GB) |
Verdict: For KSh 2,500 more, the Moto G06 Power doubles the storage, adds 1,800mAh of battery and charges faster. That is a strong trade, so stretch to it if you can. Pick the plain G06 if KSh 14,499 is your limit or you prefer a phone that is lighter in the pocket.
Other phones to consider
- Motorola Moto G06 Power 4GB/128GB (KSh 16,999): the same phone with a 7,000mAh battery and twice the storage.
- Tecno Spark Go 3 4GB/64GB (KSh 14,799): a rival with the same memory split for about the same money.
- Xiaomi Poco C71 4GB/128GB (KSh 16,499): double the storage if you would rather not rely on a memory card.
- Samsung Galaxy A07 4GB/64GB (KSh 15,899): for buyers who want a Samsung at a similar budget.
